ECONOMIC QUESTIONS
RECENT LONDON DISCUSSIONS ADMISSION FROM BERLIN BERLIN, Dec. 20. An official statement admits that Dr Schacht, while in London, discussed economic questions. He inquired whether the recent statements by British Ministers would invalidate the understanding that there should be negotiations to develop Anglo-German trade, facilitating German commerce with certain British overseas possessions. The Berlin correspondent of The Times states that there have been preparatory discussions in which Germany understood that in future negotiations Anglo-German price agreements and division of the markets of the world should be specially considered, and with regard to which the recent British export assistance measures are regarded as inconsistent. The correspondent also quotes the German hope of an international loan to provide migrating Jews with foreign exchange, which will eventually be liquidated for German exports, especially by countries interested in the settlement of Jews. DR FUNK TO VISIT LONDON LONDON. Dec. 20. The Daily Telegraph says Dr Funk is expected to visit London at the end of January for conversations, when he will determine whether any measure of Anglo-German commercial co-operation is possible. GERMAN FOUR-YEAR PLAN TO BE SPEEDED UP LONDON, Dec. 21. (Received Dec. 22, at 1 a.m.) The Berlin correspondent of The Times says General Goering has ordered Dr Funk to speed up the fouryear plan and is empowering him to take on his own responsibility any measure he thinks fit for increasing Germany's economic strength.
