DRAW AGAINST TRANSVAAL A CENTURY TO AMES JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 19. In the match against Transvaal in the first innings Marylebone scored 268 (Ames 109, Wright 28; Davies six for 82). Transvaal, second innings, 174 for two wickets (Curnow 50, Mitchell 38, Melville not out 40, Briscoe not out 38). The match was drawn. Rain delayed play. Hutton has left hospital. The selectors have chosen South Africa’s first test team as follows: Melville, Mitchell, Langton, Dalton, Wade, Viljoen, Nourse, Vanderbyl, Davies, Gordon, Bond. Transvaal in the first innings scored 428 for eight wickets, declared. Hutton was struck on the head by a ball from the fast bowler, Davies, and suffered slight concussion.
