AUSTRALIAN VISIT
CRUISE BY ESCORT VESSELS DOMINION PORTS TO BE VISITED 'Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. A cruise to Australia will be made early in the New Year by the Imperial escort vessels , Leith and Wellington. This; will be the second such cruise made by the vessels, the first being made toward the beginning of this year when they went to Sydney to be fitted with extra equipment before continuin'* on their normal winter patrol cruises of the South Pacific Islands under British and Dominion jurisdiction. Before they go to Australia, the vessels will make short cruises of the New Zealand ports, and will then sail for Australia in company. The cruises will be the first made by the escort vessels under the new command. H.M.S. Leith has already been taken over from Captain Tudway by Commander Waymouth, and H.M.S. Wellington’s present captain, Commander Loriston-Clarke. will be relieved early in the New Year by Commander Hvde-Smith. who is to arrive at Auckland by the Otranto on January 6 from Eneland.
