FORCED LANDING
RECQRD-BREAKING BOMBER CREW NOT INJURED i DARWIN, Dec. 17. One of the three Vickers-Welles-ley bombers which recently broke the world's long-distance record, was damaged in a forced landing in mountainous country near Collier Bay, Western Australia, about 130 miles north-east of Derby. Advice has been received that the crew was not hurt. The second Weilesley dropped food, and a ground party has been organised at Derby. This is the second of the recordbreaking machines which has met with a mishap since reaching Australia. The bomber which led the flight was extensively damaged on November 28, when it made a foi-ced landing in a potato field not far from Sydney. No one was Injured, but the crew of four and a farmer who was on the ground had miraculous escapes when the plane struck a rough field, bounced 20 feet into the air, and came to rest another 50 feet away.
