SENSITIVE GERMANS
RECEPTION TO JEWISH SINGER BRUSSELS, Dec. 17. The Foreign Press Union was thrown into consternation by a threat that if Josef Schmidt, the Jewish singer, sang in German as intended at the union's annual ball, the German Minister, members of the Embassy staff, and journalists would walk out. Schmidt sang in French and Italian, and 50 Germans refrained fr-m applauding. The Prime Minister arid members of the Cabinet were present.
