CARS COLLIDE
FOUR PERSONS INJURED WOMAN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL ONE CAR CATCHES FIRE (Per United Phess Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 18. Four persons were injured when two cars collided on the main road north of Upper Hutt at 1 a.m. to-day. The injured were: Sadie Rosalind Child, single, aged 21, of Wellington, concussion. Joan Margaret Mason, single, aged 19, of Wellington, severe cut on face. Ruby Maud Morris, married, aged 38, of Masterton, head and leg injuries. Patrick Smith, aged 66, of Masterton, cuts on the face and nose. Miss Child was taken to the Wellington Public Hospital, and the others were able to return to their homes after attention by a doctor. The cars were driven by Patrick John Madden, of Cross Creek, and Flewellyn Percy Morris, of Masterton. Miss Child and Miss Mason were passengers in Mr Madden's car. The others injured were in Mr Morris's car, one being his wife. Mr Morris's car was badly damaged and caught fire. Inspector Davis, of the Transport Department, putting out the blaze with a fire extinguisher.
Both drivers received minor injuries and also a male passenger in Mr Madden's car which was returning to Wellington from a cabaret. This car was a rental one. Mr Morris was proceeding to Masterton.
