VICTIMS OF STORM

LIGHTKEEPERS' TROUBLES (Uni*ed Press Association.) (By Electric Telearaoh Convrieht) LONDON, Dec. 16. Only one of four emergency 'calls in the last 24 hours to aid sick or injured lighthouse keepers who are marooned could be answered, because gales are lashing the western and northern coasts. A sixth attempt to take off the principal keeper (Jordian) from the Eddystone failed, but he was later rescued with the aid of a breeches buoy. The keeper (Huxtable) of the South Bishop light was lowered to the ship by rope from the light after four days of unsuccessful contact with the shore by lamp signals. Other messages were received from Longships off Land's End. on which the keeper is ill, and from Muckle Flugga, off Unst, on which the keeper is injured.
