DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs L. C. Hazlett (in the chair), A. N. Smith. B. S. Irwin, A. Barnett. L. J. Potter, W. J. Goughian, A. Clark. C. N. Draper and J. A. Cook. A statement showing the result of the spring meeting was submitted to members. Reports were received from the stipendiary steward, the racecourse inspector, and the gate inspector. It was resolved that the programme for the summer meeting be the same as last year except that the Milburn Handicap on the first day will be for apprentice riders only. It was also resolved that should a horse nominated for the Novice Handicap be ineligible through winning a race after being nominated, the nomination fee will be refunded. It was resolved that the first race on each day of the summer meeting start at 12 noon. A report from the Works Committee on the works in progress at Wmgatui was received. A letter from the Otago Mounted Rifles seeking permission to hold a camp at Wingatui in March, 1939, was received, and it was left to the chairman to meet the officers of the Defence Department on the grounds. A letter was received from Mr W i). Edmond resigning from the committee of the club. It was resolved to accept the resignation, and to place on record the services rendered by Mr Edmond. Two new members were elected, and other business of a routine nature was transacted.
