Swimming Club The annual meeting of the Alexandra Swimming Club was held on Tuesday evening. * a T £ e . ann ¥ al report showed that Mr A. B. Armour had consented to coach all members between 5 and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mr Armour has also presented two trophies for competition during the year, the prizes to be awarded to the boy and girl showing the greatest improvement. „ t e committee recommended a Learn to Swim” week, the date to be advertised as approved by the Otago Swimming Centre. The election of officers resulted as fmlows:—Patron, Mr W. Bringans; president, Mr B. C. H. Robson; secretary and treasurer, Miss. L.. Mcßean;.club captain, Mr J. Russell; committee— Mesdames ,J. Williams and G. Frye Misses S. Gainers and J. S. Thomson, Messrs A. W. Findlay, B. Provo, G. Frye, A. B. Armour, J. Russel, E. Cockburn, D. Stewart, D. Simpson, and M. Lunn. Drama Circle
The Alexandra Drama Circle, after several months of trainin'* under the direction of Mr G. A. Worthington, A.C.E. drama tutor, staged for public presentation seven one-act plays. The plays staged \dere:—“ Playgoers,” bv Sir Arthur Pinero; “Albert Gates ” by Harold Brighouse; “Husbands Supp Ned,” by F. L. Carey; J When the Whirlwind Blows,” by Essex Dane; “ Cupid Rampant,” by Percy Corry; “April Shower,” by Philip Johnson; and “Rory Aforesaid,” by John Brandane.
The players were:—Messrs G. Barker, J. Miller, D. Hand, R. Henderson, P. S. Roth well, C. N. Sorrell, G. A Robertson, Misses N. D. Ramsay, E. Gardner, J. S. Thomson, S. Bagley, O. Weaver, S. Cameron. I. Sorrell, M, Sanders, N. Forrest. N. Buchanan, F. Vallance. B. Moir, R. King, and Mesdames J. A. McLennan, G. Brker, A. E. Gladstone, H. Stevenson, C. A. Robertson, D. Hand, J. C. Hull, and E. J. Iversen.
