Swimming: Club The report submitted to the annual meeting of the Lawrence Amateur Swimming Club last Thursday stated that membership had risen from 60. to 104, that the carnival and the school’s carnival , had been highly successful, and , that at least 45 had learned to swim during the season.: Office-bearers elected Were: —Patron* Mr J. The heavy rain on Saturday caused a postponement of all cricket fixtures in South Otago except the Milton-Law-rence match. The Lawrence team was not advised of the postponement until they reached Milton, when the weather had improved. The match resulted in a win. for Milton. Milton scored 149 (Olver 32, Lyall 18, Smith 12), while Lawrence scored 90 (Hancock 19, Gunn 18, W. J. Cavanagh 15, Stuart 1 12). Bwwling' for Milton, Wybrow secured 5 for 17, Woods 1 for 10, Currie 2 for 24; for Lawrence, Stuart 3 for 8, W. Cotton 2 for 7, Hancock 2 for 29. Since other teams will play their postponed matches next Saturday. Lawrence will play a friendly match with Miller’s Flat on Saturday.

Agricultural Society The programme for the annual show on Boxing Day was fully discussed at a meeting of the Tuapeka Agricultural Society on Saturday. Special attractions this year will probably be a team of jumpers from Dunedin, events for mounted troopers and wrestling on horseback. .Mr F. F. Farra was appointed secretary in place of Mr R.
