“A RACE OF SPONGERS”
ro the editor
Sir,—l think the member for Parnell was not very tactful in his statement when addressing a political meeting at Rotorua that New Zealanders are the greatest race of spongers in the world. New Zealand sent the pick of her manhood to help the Mother Country in the Great War, and I may tell this member that we are paying interest, and compound interest, on the money borrowed by the party he represents. We have 'had to pay up dearly for anything we have had from the Mother Country,-and everybody is taxed to provide for the debt.—l am, etc..
