AUSTRIAN DEBTS

ATTITUDE OF GERMANY GROWING CONTEMPT OF OBLIGATIONS CONCERN IN BRITAIN (UniteJ Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, June 2. The City is most worried at the course of the negotiations between Britain and Germany over the Austrian debt question, as Germany is adopting the attitude that if pressed she will repudiate not merely the Austrian, but the whole foreign debt, including the Dawes and Young loans. Influential business men urge that Britain should impose exchange clearing restrictions against Germany if she defaults, thus depriving her of free sterling balances and aggravating her already great difficulties in obtaining raw materials. The Associated Press understands that this suggestion finds sympathy in Government circles, which are perturbed at Germany’s growing contempt of obligations.
