DERBY NIGHT BALL
THEIR MAJESTIES ENTERTAIN ITEM BY AMERICAN CROONER LONDON, June 2. History was made at Buckingham Palace on the occasion of their Majesties’ first Derby night ball by the appearance of an American crooner, Evelyn Dali, aged 20, on a balcony overlooking the 1000 guests. Miss Dali, who is a planinum blonde, wore a backless frock, and was accompanied by Ambrose’s Orchestra, which supplanted the usual military band She sang “ It’s Nice to Work if You Can Get it.” It was a private ball, distinct from the usual formal palace functions. All the guests were their Majesties’ personal friends. The men wode evening dress, with breeches, the American Ambassador (Mr J, P. Kennedy) alone wearing trousers. Their Majesties joined in the fox trots and modern waltzes.
