BRIDE OF EIGHTEEN

SAILS ON FROSTY MOLLER FEARS ONLY SEASICKNESS THIRD OFFICER’S ROMANCE Audrey Mihialoff, aged 18, of Melbourne, a week-old bride, signed on as stewardess in the tug Frosty Moller, which is making a hazardous 5000-mile tow to Shanghai. Mrs Mihialoff is making the voyage with her husband, Herman Mihialoff, a White Russian, third officer of the tug, which is towing the tug A. J. Boyd, and the steamer Moruya. Her pay will be 10 cents a month, for supervising the work of the Chinese steward. “ I would not go on a passenger ship unless Hermann accompanied me. You see we are very much in love with each other,” she said. “ I am not worrying about the possible dangers, as we will be together.” She is small, slim, brown-eyed, and has wavy, bobbed black hair. She smiled gaily as she told how she gave up her job as a waitress after meeting her husband in the Melbourne cafe at which she worked. “We fell in love with each other at first sight four months ago,” she said. “ I had a bit of trouble convincing mother to agree to our marriage, but my father and two brothers were on my side, and she gave in when she knew Hermann better. “ I know the trip may be hazardous, perhaps dangerous, but I am not afraid —except of,being very seasick. I am taking a supply of dry biscuits to cure that.” Because of the limited accommodation on the tug—the doubleberth cabin for the couple is' about six feet square—she is taking only three pairs of slacks, four pairs of shorts, some sports shirts and pullovers. “ I will buy my trousseau in China, after my honeymoon,” she said with a laugh. “It will be cheaper, my husband tells me. “ I know we are going to have a happy voyage, and my husband and I will make a success of our marriage when we settle down in the East.” Food for three months was loaded into the three ships in the tow, and also into the steamer Ready, which is acting as escort.
