DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM WALLACE

ro ni i< tun on Sir,—-I notice in your issue of 21st inst. a letter under the above heading from “A Border Weaver’s Daughter," in which she mentions that she was under the impression that William Wallace had died childless. The following is an extract from the Scots Year Book, 1936-37, from an article on Wallace entitled “The Lion of Scotland," by Mr J. Millar, hon. secretary, the Heather Club. Edinburgh:— His wife was the stately and beautiful Marion Braidfoot, the orphan daughter of Hugh Braidfoot of Lamington. From this union was born a daughter, from whom the Baillies of Lamington trace their descent. — I am, etc., L. C. Haywood, Hon. Sec., Nelson Provincial Scottish Society. Nelson, May 30.
