The Mayor of Wellington (Mr T. C. A. Hislop), chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company, who presided, said it was going to be a great advantage to all the sporting fraternity to have their big events in Wellington during the period of the exhibition. There would be tens of thousands of people attending the exhibition. and they would be available to watch the various athletic contests which might be arranged. The holding of the events in Wellington would also help the exhibition. “It is clearly to our mutual advantage that that should be so.*’ Mr Hislop said. At the moment, the company had made no provision for sports grounds, but the existing grounds would be available. There might also be some suggestion in connection with the stadium as a . issible ground, but there had been no negotiations as yet.
