(Received June 2, at 1 a.m.) Owing to light rain following a downpour during the night, there was no play before lunch in the match Australia v. Gloucester, which is to take place at Bristol. Apart from the injured Barnes, Bradman, Fingleton, and White are standing down from the Australian team. The twelfth man is Walker. Bradman’s strained back has not yet been diagnosed. The match between Australia and Middlesex was drawn. It ended on a sporting note, Bradman declaring closed Australia’s second innings to allow Edrich to score the 10 runs necessary to complete his 1000 runs in May. Edrich made 20 in 12 minutes. At lunch to-day the Middlesex innings closed for 188 in reply to the tourists’ first innings total of 132. Play was not resumed until 2.50 owing to rain, and the wicket was tricky.
