LOCAL CONDITIONS Driven before a light south-west breeze, steady rain fell in Dunedin yesterday morning, but conditions improved later and the- day was mild, though the sky remained threatening. The maximum temperature was 58 degrees, and the barometer was falling all day and remained steady at 29.87 inches in the evening. Unsettled weather with a fresh wind from the south-south-west was experienced during the day. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometric pressure had a falling tendency, and the reading at 5 p.m. was 30.06 inches. WELLINGTON, May 26. The weather to-day was cloudy, but fine. The morning was cool, but before mid-day it became very mild. There was a light to moderate northwesterly wind. The minimum temperature last night was 46.0 degrees, and the maximum to-day 62.0 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer reading was 29.81 ihches. CHRISTCHURCH, May 26. The weather was fine, but cloudy, to-day, with a light south-west breeze. The maximum temperature was 63.2 degrees. At 5 p.m. the barometer registered 29.75 inches, and was rising.
