SPORTS CARNIVAL

A largo and enthusiastic meeting of delegates from the Association football, Women's and Men’s Hockey Associations was held on Tuesday evening Mr M. K. Haig was appointed chairman of the General Committee, and explained the objects of the proposed carnival, which was being arranged bv the three associations.

It is hoped to raise funds to recuperate the losses incurred last year on account of the bad weather at the time of the most important matches, and to make provision for the season of English, Indian and representative teams Mr Haig expressed the hope that the Carnival Committee would have the support and co-opera-tion of over 1000 players and supporters from the combined associations.

Miss Morton. Messrs W. P Wellington and H. E. R. Woodhead wore appointed joint secretaries with Mr A Mcßae as treasurer The appointment of Mr P. Gilfeddcr as organiser was confirmed. Various sub-committees were appointed to make provision for entertainments, competitions and to arrange for a tug-of-war tournament. All players are to be asked for active assistance, and it is anticipated that the players will provide most of the musical talent required.
