KINE-PHOTOGRAPHIC CLUB

TWO RECENT LECTURES The lecture delivered at a recent meeting of the Otago Kine-photo-graphic Club by Dr A. J. Cottrell was on “ Colour Photography.” Dr Cottrell dealt with a rather difficult subject in an interesting and instructive manner, commencing with the first attempts at colour photography and working through the various stages of imperfection to the almost perfect results which may be obtained by the use of presentday films. The lecture was illustrated by a number of lantern slides depicting the action of light under various conditions and processes, and a microscope was utilised to demonstrate the construction of the films. Dr Cottrell’s talk was brought to a conclusion by the screening of an all-colour film taken by himself. At a later meeting Mr C. W. Sundstrum screened some films of a tour through the North Island, a number of the shots being taken from a. moving motor car. This was followed by a film of a voyage round Cape Horn in a “ windjammer.” Two reels of pictures taken on a trip through the Lakes district of Otago were the lasi to be screened. At the conclusion of the meeting the president announced that the club was shortly to commence making its first film, the subject being “ Dunedin.” Members were invited to submit scenarios.
