TO-DAY’S MATCHES The main match at Carisbrook this afternoon, commencing at 3 o’clock, will be that between University A and Taieri, which is expected to be full of interest. The Mosgiel team extended Southern last week, and should be capable of putting up a similar game again University. Th’e curtain-raiser at Carisbrook will be provided by Pirates and Dunedin, commencing at 1.30. Dunedin, it should be noted, showed marked improvement last week. Another attraction at Carisbrook will be the one mile Postal Cup race, which will be run at half time in the second match. At the Caledonian Ground Southern will meet University B. The latter team, which is a much better side than for some years, is expected to provide worthy opposition for the Black and Whites.
At Bishopscourt, Kaikorai will meet Union, and the match between Alhambra and Zingari will take place at Tahuna Park. Grand stand patrons at Carisbrook are reminded that admission to the stand enclosure can be gained only through the Burns street gate. NEW ZEALAND SELECTOR MR E. McKENZIE APPOINTED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 13. ' Mr E. McKenzie (Wairarapa) has been appointed New Zealand selector by the New Zealand Rugby Union. The selectors for the Island teams will be: — North Island—Messrs E. McKenzie, F. W. Lucas (Auckland), T. Craig (King Country). South Island —Messrs A. A. Adams (West Coast), R. R. Masters (Canterbury) and A. J. Geddes (Southland).
