OFFICIAL FORECAST A CHANGE IMMINENT The following is the official weather forecast: — An intense anti-cyclone, with its centre just west of the North Island, still covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but pressure has fallen slightly over eastern Australia. Indications are for: — Winds. —Variable, with north-west-erly to westerly prevailing from Cook Strait southwards, force mainly light to moderate, but freshening in the far south and later about Cook Strait. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Rathei rough to rough about Foveaux Strait; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate and variable wind, with slight seas in the northern portion, and a freshening north-westerly wind with moderate but rising seas in the southern portion. Weather. —Fair to fine generally at first, but clouding over later in western and far southern districts of the South Island, with scattered rains developing; temperatures milder. IN NORTHERN CENTRES (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, May 13. Fine weather, with clouds and light rain in the early afternoon, was experienced to-day, the wind being light from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees. The barometric pressure was high and steady, with the reading at 5 p.m. 30.40 inches. WELLINGTON, May 13. The weather to-day was brilliantly fine, with a light, but gradually freshening, northerly breeze. The minimum temperature last night was 47.5 degrees, and the maximum to-day 63.1. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 30.287 inches. CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. The weather in Christchurch to-day was fine and sunny all day.
