PALMYRA ISLANDS
AMERICA BUYING PORTIONS NAVAL WARNING STATIONS WASHINGTON, May 13. (Received May 13, at 11 p.m.) An obscure 25,000 dollars item approved by the House Naval Committee involves the purchase by the navy of portions of Palmyra Islands, thousands of miles south of Honolulu, in connection with the proposed half circle of island warning stations around Hawaii. The Palmyras are at present owned by private American interests.
