POLICY FOR THE FUTURE Reference to the future policy of the Otago Hospital Board was made by the chairman (Mr J. W. Dove) when returning thanks at St. Kilda last night for his re-election. Mr Dove said that, if the legislation which was promised by the Prime Minister (Mr Savage) were placed on the Statute Book, the problem of hospital administration was in the future going to give boards a great deal of concern. They were, however, nonpolitical bodies, and had to work hand in glove with whichever Government was in power. "So far as our relations with the present Minister of Health (Mr P. Fraser) are concerned,” Mr Dove continued, “ they are of the most harmonious.” The board was hoping in the near future, Mr Dove said, to carry out a definite extension to Dunedin Hospital, making it a 500-bed institution. This meant at least a 600-bed nurses’ home. He hoped when he came before them again to show a programme of progress and honesty.
