OFFICIAL FORECAST STILL UNSETTLED The following is the official weather forecast:— A shallow but extensive depression lies centrally over the Dominion. Pressure is low also over the Western Tasman Sea. Indications are for:— Winds.—Variable, with westerlies predominating in the north, and elsewhere east to north; force mainly light to moderate, but freshening at times in exposed positions. Seas.—New Zealand Waters—Rather rough at times on parts of the East Coast and Cook Strait, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Variable winds with light to moderate northerlies predominating; seas slight to moderate. Weather.—Cloudy to overcast, with rain at times in • most districts; temperatures mild. Humid, cloudy weather, with occasional light showers, was experienced during the _ day, the maximum temperature being 72deg. The wind was moderate from the north. The barometric pressure fell slowly, with a reading of 29.60 in at 5 p.m. WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The weather to-day was overcast, with steady rain, and clouds low down on the surrounding hills. There was a gentle south-south-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 60deg, and ~J?arometric pressure at 3 p.m. was 29.66 m. The rainfall between 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. was 0.45 in. CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 8. The weather was overcast in Christchurch to-day, with continuous light ram. There was no wind. The maximum temperature was 60deg.
