LABOUR PARTY AFFILIATIONS
TO THE EDITOR Sir.—lt is with mingled feelings of amusement and pity that I read this morning the letter before me from your over-zealous correspondent " John Britland." He states that Mr Johnson has reason to be proud of the union's affiliation with the Labour Party. Has "John Britland" as much reason to be proud of his obvious support of the National Party as any person has for his support of the Labour movement? Apart from that, does "John Britland" think for one moment that, if there had been a full attendance of 255 members of the union, they would have rejected the motion to affiliate with the Labour Party? " John Britland" has given ample evidence of the measure of his intelligence by demanding an answer to one question and then asking three. He is in error also in the respect that there has as yet been no suggestion of the members of the union subscribing compulsorily to the party funds. I would like to ask him if he is aware that the National Party executive has decided that the minimum contribution from each electorate towards campaign funds shall be £1000?—I am, etc., Cum Grano Sails.
