Bowling Four rinks from Waikouaiti came to Palmerston on Saturday, to play in the banner matches. The results were as follows (Palmerston names first):— James Philip, R. S. Dowie, W. T. Pickett, A. Cricket Playing at Palmerston on Saturday, the Palmerston cricket team defeated the Macrae's team after an interesting match. Batting first, Macrae's compiled 121 runs (D. Innes 27, O'Connell 27, and Jenkins 27). For Palmerston, Domigan took four wickets for 35 runs: Murdoch, two for 10; Ray Pope, three for eight; and Buttars, one for 11. Palmerston replied with 146 runs for the loss of four wickets (Buttars 38 retired, Ken Pope 23 not out, Hayes 18. Pearson 35, and Reid 23 not out). The successful bowlers for Macrae's were:— Jenkins, one for 26; Innes, one tor 28; and Ashton, one for 14. Lawn Tennis The two leading teams in the A Grade lawn tennis competition met in a match on the Palmerston courts on Saturday in fine weather. The match was between Palmerston Al and Waikouaiti, and resulted in a narrow win for the former team by nine sets (100 games) to seven sets (93 games).
