TRAIN COLLISION
ACCIDENT AT AUCKLAND DEPARTMENTAL INQUIRY CONTINUED(Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 7. With the arrival of the locomotive superintendent (Mr P. R. Angus) and the transportation superintend ent (Mr G. T. Wilson) from Wellington, the departmental inquiry into the head-on collision between a shunt train and a mixed passenger and goods train near the Parnell overbridge early in November was reopened to-day at the Auckland Railway Station. The Board of Inquiry consists of Mr Angus, as chairman, Mr Wilson, and Mr P. E Biggs, engine drivers' representative. The inquhy was opened at Auckland a month ago, but was adjourned pending the recovery of the two shunters injured h the crash. Messrs I. Macky and F E H. Ongley, who were still in hospital Both men gave evidence at to-day's sitting and it is expected that the inquiry will be continued to-morrow Mr Wilson said the inquiry was purely a departmental one and that the evidence taken would be submitted to the General Manager of Railways, Mr G. H. Mackley. No statement would be issued to the press.
