CROSSBRED PRICES

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS (From Our Own Correspondent) (By Air Mai!) LONDON, Nov. 10. : The opinion is held in Bradford that, in addition to a general decline in crossbred prices with the opening of the new selling season, coarse crossbred will show a further decline in comparison with finer sorts. Lower crossbreds, it is stated, have been unduly inflated, but certain of the reasons for this have now been removed. Coarse crossbred prices have been supported to a considerable extent by military requirements, which have shown a distinct easing in recent months. The increasing mechanisatioh of the army and the concentration of-the Air Force in the rearmament programme have diminished the importance of infantry, chief user of uniforms containing coarse crossbred wools. The increase in land forces has been comparatively small and uniform requirements have not expanded in proportion with those of other ser- , • vices. Added to this is a reduction in the demand from European countries for uniform cloths. Most of the coun-, tries which previously took substantial consignments are now aiming at self-sufficiency, and the introduction of synthetic fibres, reclamation of old clothing and similar methods , have resulted in a virtual cessation? of shipments from England. It is stated that manufacturers of ' army clothing in Germany are com--polled to introduce a minimum of 2f per cent, of staple fibre and clothing for certain other public, servicer is composed entirely of reclawaKM? • wool and staple fibre.
