OUTRAGE IN EGYPT
ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION PRIME MINISTER FIRED AT ESCAPE FROM INJURY (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) CAIRO. Nov. 28. Three bullets were fired at Nahas Pasha (Prime Minister) as he was returning home by car from a political meeting, but he was not injured. EGYPTIAN YOUTH ARRESTED CAIRO, Nov. 29. (Received Nov. 29, at 10 p.m.) Four shots were fired at Nahas Pasha as he drove through Heliopolis to attend a political meeting Policemen leapt from an escorting car and captured an Egyptian youth, Izzedine Abdel Khader who had two revolvers in his possession Khader was clad in the uniform of a Green Shirt organisation of young Egyptians, which is hostile to the Premier and the Anglo-Egyptian treaty. After the shooting Nahas drove to the meeting, where he personally announced the attempted assassination. Crowds of his supporters, armed with sticks, marched from the meeting and smashed the windows of opposition newspapers. Small bands of hooligans created disturbances elsewhere. A serious disturbance occurred outside the home of Mohamed Mahmud Pasha, leader of the Opposition, who ordered his servants to fire into the air. The crowd also fired. The police charged and several demonstrators were injured.
Khader, who is aged 22, is a grandson of Arabi Pasha, leader in the 1882 revolution.
