ELECTION OF OFFICERS MR W. A. MACKENZIE PRESIDENT The annual social of the Caledonian Society of Otago was held last evening in the Somerset Lounge subsequent to a meeting of directors, at which the election of office-bearers for the ensuing year took place. Dawson. E. J. Taylor. A Wheeler. SOCIAL GATHERING At the conclusion of the directors’ meeting, Mr W. H. McLeod took the chair. The president-elect and the vice-presidents were escorted in by Piper A. McMillan, and were introduced by the chairman. The retiring president, Mr J. A. Johnston, welcomed the new officers, who were then introduced to the gathering by the chairman. The following toast list was honoured —“The President,” proposed by Mr J. Hope and responded to by the president; “Our Guests,” Mr A. A. Paape, the Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox) and Mr J. Caldwell: “ The Caledonian Society of Otago,” Mr W. J. Bennett and Mr J. A. Johnston; “Patrons and Office-bearers,” Mr J. H. Walker and Messrs A. Wheeler and H. A. Newall; “Prize Donors and Kindred Sports,” Mr J. H. F. Hamel and Messrs Sutherland Ross and Mr Clark (president of the Otago Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A.; “The Retiring Directors and Officebearers,” Mr T. M. Gillies. Songs were provided by Messrs T. Kennedy, F. G. Duncan and A. Moore, and Signor G. Stella; and bagpipe selections by Pipers K. Cameron and A. McMillan. A piano selection was given by Mr C. Parnell and the address to the haggis by Mr J. Young. Mr C. Parnell played the accompaniments.
