KIDNAPPED DOCTOR

DEATH AFTER RELEASE VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA HUNTINGDON (Virginia), Nov. 15. The death has occurred, due to pneumonia, of Dr Seder. A previous message from Huntingdon, in West Virginia, stated that, bruised and exhausted, Dr James Seder, aged 79, a former missionary in Japan, was recovering after escaping from abductors who held him captive for 11 days in an abandoned coal mine. G-men arrested two men, Arnett Booth and John Travis, who later confessed. The third kidnapper, Orville Atkins, was captured without resistance at Canada, Kentucky. Dr Seder managed to escape while the mine was not guarded. He was found hours later. A ransom of 50,000 dollars was previously demanded of Dr Seder's son, but was not paid.- Dr Seder was one of the most prominent United States prohibitionists.
