o PUBLIC INTEGRITY PRESUMED TEMPTATION TO THE DISHONEST (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 4. "For seven years you have both consistently and deliberately broken the law, and you appear determined to live an anti-social life," said Mr Justice Northcroft this morning when imposing a sentence of six months' imprisonment upon Bruce Clive Ward, aged 21, a labourer, and Leslie Albert Sales, 25, a labourer, who appeared for sentence on three charges of converting motor cars to their own use, and one of converting a motor cycle. " Temptation was supplied by people who left the keys in their cars," said counsel. " Why should people not leave the keys in their cars?" inquired the judge. " That contention presumes a dishonest public, and the public is not dishonest. The only temptation is that to dishonest people." Each prisoner was sentenced to six months in goal on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent.
