HEAVY DAMAGES AWARDED
<a» SEQUEL TO MOTOR COLLISION A FARM LABOURER'S INJURIES O'er United Press association) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 4. Damages totalling £2052 were awarded by a jury on a three-quarters' majority to .Henry Alexander Kay, a farm labourer of Greendale. at the conclusion of the hearing in the Supreme Court to-day of his claim against Arlnur Walter Andrews, of Opawa a truck driver. The claim which was for £2500. arose from a collision between a motor cycle ridden by the plaintiff and a motor truck and trailer driven by the defendant at the intersection of the Darfield-Burnham road and the Bealey road to Hororata. Mr C. S. Thomas, with him Mr E E. England, appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr D. W. Russell for the defendant. Negligence on several grounds, among them failure to give way to a vehicle approaching on the right, was alleged by the plaintiff. It was claimed that because of his injuries he had been so disabled as to be made unfit to follow his occupation as teamster or ploughman.
