OBITUARY

PROFESSOR WOODHOUSE (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 27. The death has occurred of Professor William John Woodhouse, aged 70, professor of Greek at the Sydney University since 1901. MR T. A. H. FIELD (Per United Press Association) NELSON, Oct. 27. The death occurred suddenly at his office this morning of Mr T. A. H. Field, of the firm of Messrs Wilkins and Field, a former mayor of Nelson. He represented Nelson in Parliament from 1914 to 1919, was one of the original trustees of the Cawthron Institute, and a past president of the Chamber of Commerce and Philosophical Society. He took a keen interest in the early history of Nelson, and in his younger days was a prominent cyclist. He leaves a widow, two sons (Messrs A. N. and L. W. Field, of Nelson), and two daughters (Miss F. Field, of Nelson, and Dr Violet Hastings, of Auckland). DR CHARLES H. WHEELER (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 27. One of the best-known medical practitioners on North Shore, Dr Charles H. Wheeler, died to-day at his residence; aged 78 years. Born in Belfast, Ireland, Dr Wheeler Sualified for his medical degree at •üblin University. His first appointment was as surgeon in the Royal Navy, after which he accepted a medical position with the Perak Government service in the Malay States. He came to New Zealand in 1901. During the Great War he was a medical officer in the New Zealand Medical Corps from 1915 to 1917 and acted as surgeon on two troopships from the Dominion.
