The Favourites King's Warrior. War Buoy, and Indianapolis are the ruling favourites :tor the Trotting Cup. De Soto has grown in favour since winning at Oamaru. Forbury Park The Forbury Park Trotting Club's spring meeting is set down for November 25 and 27. King's Warrior King's Warrior has not been displaced from favour in the Trotting Cup, and in some quarters the opinion exists that he will take a power of beating. Indianapolis Indianapolis was set a task at Oamaru when De Soto won in 2min 42 l-ssec, and the Wrack horse had to give away 60 yards and a dust-creating field in.front of him. De Soto De Soto scored at Oamaru, and the fact will bring him back to the favour he held 12 months ago. Last season De Soto won the August Handicap, was second in 4min 21 l-ssec in the King Edward Handicap, won the Speedway Handicap in 2mm 9sec. the National Cup in 4min 20sec, and the President's Handicap at Oamaru in 4min 21 2-ssec. Dean Hanover Dean Hanover, whose world record mile of lmin 58jsec for a three-year-old trotter was the sensation of this year's juvenile performances in America, had already achieved much fame as Mr Watt, and it was only after his purchase for 20,000 dollars that he appeared under his original name of Dean Hanover. Bred by the Hanover Shoe Farms, and sold at the Old Glory auction in 1935 for 410 dollars as a yearling, the colt was purchased back by that great establishment after he had, as Mr Watt, won the three heats of the Hollyrood Stake in 2min 2sec. 2min 2fsec, and 2min the day after the Hambletonian was decided. The Hanover Shoe Farms also bred and owned Shirley Hanover, winner of this year's Hambletonian in 2min ljsec and 2min If sec; the 2min ■ljsec creating a new record lor any heat in the classic since its inauguration. It' is of further interest to note that Hanover's Bertha, winner of the Hambletonian in 1930 for the Hanover Shoe Farms, and finishing up with a three-year-old record of lmin 59£sec against time, is the dam of Shirley Hanover. When Mr McElwyn, now a celebrity as a sire, did lmin 59fsejc in 1924 he was the first three-year-old trotter,to enter the two-minute list Since then Spencer lmin 59Jsec (1928), Hanover's Bertha lmin 59£sec (1930), Protector lmin 59isec (1931). dharlotte Hanover lmin 59£sec (1931), The Marchioness Imm 59Jsec (1932), Greyhound 2min (1935), Margaret Castleton lmin 59:fsec (1936). and now the fastest of them all Dean Hanover lmin 58£sec. Peter Volo is responsible for Hanover's Bertha, Protector (already a sire of winners). Charlotte Hanover (fullsister, to Hanover's Bertha), and The Marchioness. Guy Abbey and Guy Axworthy have been represented by Greyhound and Mr McElwyn respectively while other sons of Guy Axworthy have been represented by Dean Hanover (son of Dillon Axworthy) and Margaret Castleton (a daughter of Guv Castleton).
