BRITISH PARLIAMENT
OPENED YESTERDAY SPEECH FROM THE THRONE (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 25. The King will open Parliament for the first time in his reign tomorrow. The Speech from the Throne, which he wjll read to the assembled members of the Houses of Lords and Commons, will outline the Government's plans for the coming session. It is anticipated that the Speech will indicate measures of first-rate importance for the coal industry and agriculture and Bills dealing with reorganisation of electricity supply, cost of air raid precautions, the future of British films, prison reform, the evils of " share pushing," the regulation of fixed trusts and reduction of age limit for pensions for the blind. The text of the King's Speech has already been considered by Cabinet. To-day it will be submitted to junior Ministers and to the leaders of the two Opposition parties. The King and Queen will drive in state from Buckingham Palace to the House of Lords. PRINCESS TO ATTEND (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 25. Princess Elizabeth will attend the opening of Parliament to-morrow. The King and Queen will leave London to-morrow for Sandringham. It is announced that his Majesty will visit the Duchy of Cornwall property in Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset early in December.
