INTOXICATED DRIVERS

TWO CASES AT PALMERSTON NORTH VAN INVOLVED IN COLLISION (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 26. Charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a motor cycle, Arthur Leo May, an engine driver, of Sanson, who was said to have been a week in custody, was ordered to come up for sentence within six months, conditional on his taking out a prohibition order. His drivers licence was suspended for 12 months. The magistrate (Mr J. L. Stout) said that but for the fact that the accused had been in custody, he would have given him imprisonment. George Charles Hastings, aged 55. a butter distributor, for intoxication while in charge of a motor van which was involved in a collision last evening, was fined £ls, and his licence was cancelled for 12 months.
