AUSTRALIAN ORANGES
, IMPORTATIONS FROM NOVEMBER 8 EXTENSION OF PERIOD (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 26. In May last the Acting Minister of Customs (Mr M. Fagan) announced that from the beginning of December, or earlier if found necessary, to the end'of-April-next, importers would be free to import oranges in any quantity from fly-free areas in Australia, subject to the production of the certificates required by the Department of Agriculture. The Government has recently given further consideration to the matter, and, to avoid any possibility of a shortage, it has been decided to permit importations of oranges and mandarins from the areas mentioned on and from November 8 to the end of April next, instead of from December 1, but the extension of the period does not apply to grape-fruit.
