LADIES' BOWLING
MORNINGTON CLUB TOURNAMENT A one-day tournament was arranged by the women members of the Mornington Bowling Club. The entries for this were rather disappointing, but rinks were entered from the St. Kilda, Green Island, Caversham, Kaikorai, Otago Ladies' Bowling Association, North-East Valley, and West Harbour Clubs. After some well-contested games St. Kilda proved to be the winning rink. The St. Kilda players were Mesdames Gladding, Muir, Irvine, and Adess (skip). The prizes were presented by Mrs Morrison. PORT CHALMERS CLUB Favoured with fine weather, the Port Chalmers Ladies' Bowling Club opened the season on October 19. There was a good attendance of members and visitors from the various clubs in Dunedin. The president (Mrs Middleton) welcomed the visitors. Other speakers were Mesdames Stubbs (representing the centre), Seymour (Caversham), Thompson (Roslyn), French (West Harbour), Hay ward (0.L.8.A. Club), and the president of the Portobello Club (Mr Chettleburgh). The vice-pre-sident of the Men's Club extended his club's greetings, and wished the women a successful season. The Mayor (Mr Scollay) also spoke. The president then called on Miss Stevenson to roll up the first bowl, and then declared the green opened. Members of the club and the visiting women bowlers enjoyed a friendly game.
