THE MOONEE VALLEY MEETING YOUNG IDEA WINS COX PLATE (United Press Association) (By Electrlr Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Oct. 24, (Received Oct 24, at 9 p.m.) The weather was fine and there wSs an excellent attendance at the Moonee Valley. Courtcraft made a wonderful effort in the Cox Plate to finish second to Young Idea. Courtcraft was well placed throughout and battled the issue gamely. He was going as well as Young Idea at the post; The performance suggests excellent prospects in the Derby. The critics were greatly impressed. Charles Fox was third. Black Mac disappointed his Cup admirers by a poor display. , Normal set a course record of 48gsec for the half-mile in the St. Alban’s Handicap for fillies. She was bred in New Zealand and cost 350 guineas. She has been unbeaten in two starts. Frill Prince surprised by winning the Valley Cup. Mala finished well for second and Nightguard, who was always prominent, was a good third. Wotan made up ground at the finish but was never dangerous. Jack Homer , and International ran poorly. Manolive was lame after the race. Mala was unlucky, but his strong finish enhances his Melbourne Cup prospects. Flying Chief was a close fourth in the Dundonald Handicap, second division. The winner, Mohican, equalled the course six furlongs record, Imin lUsec. WARWICK FARM MEETING (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 24. (Received Oct. 24, at 9 p.m.) At the Warwick Farm races Rebel Chief \#as unplaced in the Maiden Handicap, Cherry King was unplaced in the Macquarrie Grove Handicap and The Palmist was unplaced in the Farm Stakes.
