KING GEORGE THE FIFTH NATIONAL MEMORIAL FUND
CO CHE EDITOR Sir,—Now that this fund has been closed, I desire to convey to the press of New Zealand the thanks of the Government for the manner in which newspapers throughout the Dominion co-operated in furthering my appeal, the public response to which has now reached a total of £88,400. To those papers which in their columns opened lists in aid of the National Fund, and to all others for the generous manner in which they gave news space and in their editorial columns urged public response to the appeal, I tender my personal thanks for their great help in a national effort to create a worthy memorial to his late Majesty. The sympathy of the press towards the form of the memorial will be an inspiration to those who will administer the fund.—l am, etc., M. J. Savage, Prime Minister. Wellington,, October 22.
