FIRE BRIGADES’ CONTEST
PROVINCIAL DEMONSTRATION NEARLY EIGHTY TEAMS ENTER (Peh United Press Association) ASHBURTON, Oct. 23. The Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades’ Association’s annual demonstration was held to-day when nearly 80 teams from all parts of the province C °Ashburton (17 points) won the Hefford Cup for most points in the dry events, with Waimate (15 points) Se Waimate (35 points) won the shield for most points in the wet events, witn Ashburton (27 points) second. The details are as follows: Four Men Motor (dry).—Waimate, 29 2-ssec, 1; Ashburton, 30 l-ssec, 2. One-man Coupling (dry). Ashburton (C. Bax) 38 l-ssec, 1; Sumner (O’Neill) 41 4-ssec. 2. Two-men Hose and Standpipe (dry). —Ashburton, 23 4-ssec, 1; Waimate, 24 2-ssec 2 Two-men'Hose and Standpipe (wet). —Waimate A, 34 l-ssec, 1; Waimate B, 37sec, 2. , , _ Four-men Motor (wet). —Sumner, 40sec, 1; Waimate, 44sec, 2.
