GROWERS OF ONIONS
SATISFIED WITH GOVERNMENT POLICY FULL CONTROL DESIRED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. The contention that the onion growers of the Dominion had been so satisfled with tne policy of the Government that they were seeking full Government control was made by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr W. Lee Martin) in his Budget speech in the House of Representatives to-day. The situation of the onion growers .was quoted by the Minister when he was giving a long list of primary industrial units which the Department 'of Agriculture has assisted. What had been done for the onion growers last year, Mr Lee Martin said, had created a very substantial benefit for the industry; so much so that the growers had practically unanimously asked that the Government should take full control of both external and internal marketing. From information which had been gained through investigation into the industry the department would be able to see that the industry was placed on a sound basis in the future.
