GOLF IN AUSTRALIA
THE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP WILLIAMS DEFEATS TANNER SYDNEY, Sept. 16. (Received Sept. 17, at 1.30 a.m.) In the filial of the Amateur Golf Championship of Australia H. L. Williams (Victoria) beat T. Tanner (New South Wales) 1 up. A feature of the play was Tanner's plucky fight. He was 4 down at the twenty-seventh and then played brilliantly, but he could not get ahead of his opponent. Williams at times played masterly golf.
