THE SLOTTED WING
DEVICE ON AEROPLANE RUMANIA PURCHASES RIGHTS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Sept. 15. (Received Sept. 16, at 5.5 p.m.) •Rumania is the latest country to acquire for a considerable cash payment the rights to use the British safety air device, the Handley Page slotted wing. The other nations concerned are Britain, Sweden, U.S.A., India, New Zealand, Finland and Japan. Adopted originally in the interests of safer flying, the slotted wing is now/days equally important as a means of augmenting the speed and range of a modern, heavily loaded, high performance aeroplane.
