Mr G. W. Reid was a passenger by the north express yesterday morning on his way to Wellington. Mr W. R. Brown travelled north by the express yesterday morning en route to Wellington. Mr M. S. Myers was a passenger by the through express yesterday for Wellington. Mr M. Silverstone left yesterday morning for Wellington to attend a meeting of the directors of the Reserve Bank.

Mr C. V. Smith was a passenger for Auckland by the mid-day express yesterday. Mr A. G. Betts, who will act as one of the judges in the dog section at the show of the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club, has arrived in Dunedin from Nelson.

A Press Association message from Wellington states that Mr John Dunlop, of Seaward Downs. Southland, has been elected to represent the Southern Ward on the New Zealand Dairy Board. In the election Mr Dunlop polled 17,277 votes. The only other candidate, Mr Thomas M. Timpany, of Woodlands, Southland, received 3561 votes.

The Union Airways liner Kotuku left the Taieri airport at 8.15 yesterday morning for Christchurch. Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Miss Mildred Shaw for Palmerston North. The Korimako arrived from the north at 1 p.m. with Mr S. Cassey from Palmerston North, Mr S. C. Sutherland from Wellington, and Mr Stronach Paterson, Miss P. Paterson, Mr R. A. M'Kinlay, and Mr H. W. Johnston from Christchurch.

Having completed 40 years’ service Mr D. J. Gibbs, treasurer and assistant secretary to the Wellington Harbour Board, is retiring on superannuation. His resignation, which takes effect from November 30, was accepted with deep regret by the board last night. Mr F. W. Reed, assistant accountant, was appointed acting secretary from December 1. Mr N. J. Oliver, chief clerk in the head office, was appointed acting treasurer and assistant secretary. Mr F. W. Ward, of the head office, was promoted to the position of acting chief clerk and Mr J. M. Russell promoted to the position vacated by Mr Reed.
