RIOT IN HARLEM
DIVINE FORSAKEN FOR "ANGEL No. I " MALCONTENTS INCREASING NEW YORK, June 18. j A street fight between the fol- ' lowers of Father Divine and Faithful Mary developed into a riot. It took the police two hours to restore order. Three negroes and a white woman were taken to hospital. An increasing number of malcontents are leaving Father Divine and giving allegiance to Faithful Mary. The streets of Harlem "Heaven" are becoming a frequent battle ground. Faithful Mary, Father Divine's "Angel No. 1," in whose name his principal properties were held, renounced her allegiance thus: " He is not God, but'just a man." She said he insisted that she should give him the deed over numerous tenements in Harlem and also' large farms where members of the cult were housed, but she refused.
