NAPIER HOSPITAL

COMMISSION OF INQUIRY FURTHER EVIDENCE HEARD (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 19. When the Royal Commission inquiry into the affairs of the Napier Hospital resumed its sittings to-day Dr Allan Berry, further questioned, said that the children sometimes became fretful towards the end of an hour's bathing treatment. Witness and Dr H. Berry were known to be interested in heat treatment. He told the sister concerned 'to refer to his brother in case there were any gaps. A medical man was within call all the time the treatment was in progress. Witness amended his previous statement by saying that during the post mortem he sent his brother (Dr H. Berry) for Dr Foley. Witness realised now it was wrong to approach the acting coroner, Mr Bedford, who was a member of the board. He supposed he should have told the matron of the treatment. Witness said he had been trying to protect the sister. He admitted that it was unfortunate he had forgotten some things. The commission adjourned till Monday.
