MEETING OF COMMITTEE The 1 Otago Football Association Management Committee held its weekly meeting last night, when the vice-chairman (Mr F. Ball) presided. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr P. Neeshan, of Auckland, the New Zealand selector. A motion of sympathy with the chairman (Mr M. K. Haig) in the recent death of his mother-in-law. was carried. CORRESPONDENCE The Northern Club asked for permission to play the Mataura Club on the King’s Birthday. June 9. Granted. The secretary of the Caversham Club applied for the Caversham Second Grade team to be one of the contestants in the curtain-raiser match to be plaved next Saturday at Carisbrook.—It was decided (hat King’s High School and Technical College Boys’ Association Fifth Grade teams be givep the match, subject to the ground being Gt for play. The secretary of the Northern Club wrote stating that (he club had investigated the protest lodged by Mr ,1. R. Roxburgh against the Sixth Grade team, and had found that the boys in question were eligible for that grade. It was also pointed out that as Mr Roxburgh was not associated with the Otago Boys’ High School Club a protest from him was irregular, and any complaint should come from the High School authorities. —Received. Hamilton from the Rangers Club, Canterbury, to High School Old Boys was approved. The secretaries of the Northern and Technical College Old Boys’ Clubs wrote stating that in their committees’ opinion the Oval Ground was in an unfit condition for First Grade matches last Saturday, and expressing the hope that the ground would be attended to before other matches were played.—lt was decided that copies of the'letters, with a letter from Hie secretary. should be sent to the City Council for consideration.

GENERAL It was decided to cancel all primary school matches set down for this week. A Caversham Second Grade player had his name placed on, the “ cautioned ” list, and a Northern player was suspended for three weeks for rough play in the match between the two teams last Saturday. It was also decided that a Mosgiel player should be asked to attend the next meeting of the committee regarding obscene expressions alleged to have been spoken by him. Mr J. M'Narey was appointed to represent the New Zealand Council at the England v. Otago-Southland match at Invercargill to-morrow. ENGLISH TOURING TEAM A GOVERNMENT RECEPTION (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 31. The English Association footballers were given a Government, reception to-day by the Postmaster-general (Mr F. Jones) in the absence of the Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser). Representatives of sports bodies joined in the welcome. The manager of the team (Mr Wreford Brown), replying, said the importance of providing sports facilities had been realised by Now Zealand before England. Before going to Parliament House, representatives of the team placed a wreath on the war memorial.
